Crompton cricket club is located centrally in the village of Crompton off Glebe Street, Shaw, Oldham. Our entrance and carpark are situated at the end of Christine Street.

Crompton joined the Lancashire league in 2018 having made the decision to resign from the newly formed Pennine League. The Lancashire league has a long and proud history dating back to 1892.

The league decided to recruit teams from other leagues hoping to make the league more competitive with the hope that the new clubs would provide the most competitive cricket being played on grounds with excellent playing facilities.

Crompton was accepted into the Lancashire league following some extensive qualifying criteria along with 6 other ex-Central Lancashire league clubs. Walsden, Norden, Rochdale, Middleton, Littleborough, and Milnrow.  This formed a league with 24 teams. The inaugural season in 2018 involved every club playing the other 23 teams once and results decided the league positions to allow the league to be split into 2 divisions in 2019.

Crompton had an excellent season and finished in 9th place and will play next season in the premier division along with Walsden, Lowerhouse, Ramsbottom, Darwen, Church & Oswaldtwistle, Norden, Burnley, Clitheroe, Accrington, Rochdale & Todmorden.

Next season the clubs will play each other home and away and there will be relegation and promotion involving the other division. The intention is to make the 2 leagues very competitive.

All our junior cricket teams have qualified coaches who are dedicated to making sure all our junior cricketers learn in a safe and secure environment. All our coaches are DBS checked as are our Child Welfare Officers.

On the social side, our clubhouse has a large function room, a snooker/games room as well as an outdoor children’s park and beer garden. In addition, there is the cricket pitch, a football pitch, and masses of well kept grassed areas, all within a secure and safe environment.

Our ground is completely enclosed with beautiful far reaching views over the Pennine Hills which are the envy of many other clubs.
